Practicing French

Hi there...we have been busy visiting the sisters of our friends today, having a most wonderful time.  We are forced to use the little bit of French we learned since these women do not speak any English.  So good for us!

on our way to the Hopper exhibit...

We keep trying to reply to emails, and still cannot get our replies to fly across the sea!   And so from here we send you all our love and thanks for the emails.  Do keep writing if you feel like it, we love it.  Today we stood in line for 2 hours in order to enjoy a truly amazing exhibit of Edward Hopper at the Grand Palais.  It was worth the tired feet and legs.  I never knew the extent of his development from illustrations (to help him make a living) to water colors, to etchings, and of course, his masterful oils.  Nor did I realize how deeply he studied and painted light.  The photos do not in any way do these works justice.

Vaux Le Vicomte

Hello dear ones...we spent the whole day at this castle: Vaux Le Vicomte.  Wow.  Louis XIV copied this castle when he had Versailles built for himself.  We had a wonderful day!
